I will now begin to research into Magazine advertisements for albums, Starting with this one for Kasabian's 'Empire' the Ad is nicely laid out with artwork similar to that of the album cover taking up the majority of the space and text the rest.
The importance of using the same imagery (in this case the 'Empire' banner, playing card visuals and painted figures) is to maintain continuity, which helps people relate this advertisement they've seen in a magazine to the actual digipak album. Kasabian also produced a logo for their band name appearance which is visible on this advertisement for the exact same reason - distinguishing themselves and helping other people to.

Other features include the reviews published by other media organisations such as newspapers or TV channels and these are used for promotional purposes, to help lure new customers or people previously unknowing of the artist in question to buy the album.

The level of continuity is taken further when watching the music video for 'Empire' one quickly recognises the  matching visual theme of the renaissance period and a time where art and paintings were very prominent (as the video is set, or supposedly set during a time of uncertainty inn Europe in the middle ages, possibly referring to the French Empire). the artwork on the advertisement is similar to that in colour and style. This imagery is complimented by a serif font, to give the appearance of upper class opulence  associated with the historical period.

This is the final design for my digipak, which I will print and make into a 3d Model. I think the use of colour and psychadelic imagery helps to show the

Christmas developments.

After finding out that my initial recordings were too short, I had to re-shoot some material.
This time  I made sure to time 3-5 seconds before and after each clip so the clips were long enough altogether.

I also found a net for the Digipak which will enable me to create my digipak very shortly

Digipak

This is a similar album cover to what I want to achieve, from a band very very similar to The Strokes in genre, time and style.
the cover consists of just the band's name on a black background. The colours and font are very clean and could possibly represent a neon sign.

Here are some images representing ideas for my digipak and magazine advertisement.

Animatic Production

I have begun my animatic. Animatics are similar to music videos although using storygoards instead of actual filmed footage. This is gain an insight into what the video will eventually look like.

A good example of an Animatic is 'Dirty Harry' by 'Gorillaz'

The drawings in this Animaticaresuperior to most, but that makes it a good example due to the likeness to the actual video.

I have a series of pictures represening shots which I will use, althought not lots. This is because in some of the shots, such as the chorus, I will gradually build up the shot starting with one quarter of the screen and bringing in others. My animatic won't be an accurate representation of my video.
